How much have my drawings improved in 1 year?

If you have been following me for a while, you may remember that I did a drawing of my front garden in about the 23rd of February 2019. Since the beginning of 2020, I had the idea that I would – at some point – draw the same scene, 1 year apart. Here it is (the date now is about 29th of February).!

Here are the main differences I have noticed about the two drawings:

  • I have used much bolder lines in this year’s drawing.
  • I have used other shading techniques like hatching, cross-hatching and stippling (also called pointillism) in this year’s drawing.
  • The perspective lines in the ground, in this year’s drawing are much better (but still not perfect).

In July 2019, I completed an online drawing course. One of the segments was about shading techniques, which is where I learnt some of the techniques I have used. There are also other techniques that I used, which were very helpful.

Overall, I think there is a clear difference between both drawings, I will hopefully be doing some more drawings like this, so I can more easily work out how much I have improved.

Anyway, thanks for reading, bye for now!
