Plastic Bag Drawing – Evaluation.

I am in the first week of a 4 week online drawing course. This is one of the assignments I did of a plastic bag so that I could practice folds, creases, wrinkles, etc in the context of smooth shading.

In the course, one of the tasks was to do an evaluation. Here it is:

The most difficult thing I found was shading some of the fold lines to look like
they do on the actual bag.

Using multiple pencils helped me to show value because they each look different.
Some are lighter, some are darker, etc.

I blended my dark and light values fairly well but if I had done it again, I
probably would have spend more time on it. If I were to do this again, I would have
spent more time on learning to draw the actual fold lines.

It answers these questions:

  • What was most difficult about your drawing?
  • How did using different pencils help you show value?
  • How well did you blend your values? Would you spend more time on it next time?
  • What would you do differently next time?

Next time I do a post on this blog, I’ll probably try to do a similar evaluation section. If you have any other suggestions, please comment them down below.
